After the remodeling everything is clean, neat, and fun! Go there and chill with the comfy chairs. But you technically have to pay for a library card whereever you live.

@Leslie Evon - like most public libraries in Illinois, Macomb PL is a district library. People residing in the district have a line item in their property tax bill which goes to fund the library. So they are paying for their card through their taxes. If you live in an area which is out of district and does not pay library taxes, you have to pay annually for a card. So everyone pays one way or another. There really is no such thing as a "free" library card. In my experience, Macomb Public Library is well worth the cost.
When you live in Georgtown or other 'subdivisions' in town, they say your out of town and make you pay a pretty penny to get a library card. Not good.
